American Embassy in Yemen Is Closed

The United States has closed its embassy in Sana, the Yemeni capital, to the public because of security concerns, the State Department said on Wednesday, citing recent attacks against Western interests in Yemen as the reason for temporarily suspending operations. Embassy personnel are not being evacuated, but the closing will stop the processing of visas and other services. The department did not say how long the embassy would be closed to the public but stated that the potential threat to the embassy would be evaluated daily.
